Watch This Space
Watch This Space is a free public event and exhibition that explores design as a tool for capacity-building within communities and fostering resilience in the face of contemporary challenges. Over two days, it transformed Dundas Street West (Toronto) into a vibrant site of community connection and creative exploration. Visitors were invited to experience a series of free curated events, public installations, and participatory workshops that explored placemaking, local storytelling, and community resilience. A concurrent photography exhibition mounted in shopfront windows featured the work of local community-led organizations and initiatives.
StudioExhibit.A was responsible for the visual identity of this public event. Central to the branding concept was a dashed rhomboid boundary line that recalled property lines and shifted shape depending on its application. Signs, posters, and photographs were installed along the street to create a cohesive visual language and to orient visitors to various event locations. A distinctive purple hue was chosen because it stood out well against the greyish urban context.
